Sensex near day's high, up 65pts

The Sensex touched a high of 15,854 led by fresh buying. The index is now at 15,834, up 65 points.

The BSE Consumer Durables index continues to lead, up 5%. It is followed by healthcare, TECk, IT and capital goods indices.

The NSE Nifty is at 4,701, up 20 points.

Bharti Airtel soared 3% to Rs 418. Wipro and Tata Power have advanced 2% each to Rs 569 and Rs 1,356.

SBI, Larsen & Toubro, Mahindra & Mahindra and Sun Pharamaceuticals are up over 1% each.

Hindustan Unilever and Tata Motors have slipped around 1.5% each to Rs 258 and Rs 493, respectively.

 

The market breadth is neutral, out of 2,717 shares traded, 1,818 have advanced and 836 have declined so far on the BSE.
