Sensex near day's low; Bharti Airtel, DLF slump

The Sensex had slipped further into the red and touched a low of 14,021, down 385 points from the day's high. The index is now at 14,049, down 253 points.

Tata Motors has sky-rocketed 21% to Rs 369. Tata Steel has soared 12% to Rs 370.

Mahindra & Mahindra has surged 7% to Rs 670. Hindalco has rallied 6% to Rs 82.50. Maruti Suzuki has gained 5% at Rs 1,049.

Ranbaxy, Jaiprakash Associates, Reliance Infrastructure, ACC, SBI and Larsen & Toubro have gained 2-4% each.

Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel has slumped 7% to Rs 852. ICICI Bank, DLF and HDFC have shed 6% each at Rs 710, Rs 362 and Rs 2,207, respectively.

 

BHEL has dropped 4% to Rs 2,076. Sun Pharma, Reliance, HDFC Bank, Reliance Communications and Infosys have declined 2-4% each.

The market breadth is extremely positive - out of 2,685 stocks traded, 2,296 have advanced while onloy 342 have declined.
