Sensex nears 12K; Reliance, ONGC lead

The Sensex zoomed to a new all-time intra-day high of 11,980 - just 20 points short of the 12K mark - and is now up 139 points at 11,961.

The BSE Metal index has soared nearly 3% to 10,079.

Reliance has rallied 3.6% to Rs 923. ONGC has moved up 2.6% to Rs 1,341.

Hindalco has surged 3.5% to Rs 207. Tata Steel has advanced 2.8% to Rs 606.

HDFC and HDFC Bank have added over 2% each to Rs 1,312 and Rs 850, respectively.

Grasim and NTPC are up 2% each at Rs 2,288 and Rs 142, respectively.

Out of 2,267 stocks traded so far, 1,332 have moved up, 876 have slipped and 59 are unchanged.
