Sensex, Nifty marginally in red

The Sensex continues to move in a narrow range of 60-odd points. The index is now down 33 points at 17,165.

The NSE Nifty is down 12 points at 5,096.

Hindalco has surged 3% to Rs 140. ACC has rallied 2.5% to Rs 814.

Tata Power has advanced 2% to Rs 1,358. Sterlite has added 1.5% to Rs 871.

Grasim, Bharti Airtel and Wipro are up around 1% each.

Reliance is trading at the ex-bonus price. The company had announced a 1:1 bonus issue, for which November 27, 2009 was the record date. The stock now trades at Rs 1,094.

Tata Motors, ITC and HDFC Bank are down around 1% each at Rs 637, Rs 266 and Rs 1,786, respectively.

The market breadth is marginally positive - out of 2,311 stocks traded so far, 1,210 have advanced, 1,027 have declined.
