The Sensex has slipped from the day's high. The index is now up 114 points at 16,568.
The Nifty is up 39 points at 4,931.
The BSE metal and realty indices have gained 2.5% and 2%, respectively.
Tata Steel hs surged 6% to Rs 519. Sterlite has gained 3% to Rs 764.
Mahindra & Mahindra has added 2% to Rs 859. Reliance Communications, Jaiprakash Associates, DLF, SBI, ICICI Bank and Hero Honda have moved up over 1% each.
The market breadth is failry positive. Out of 2,456 stocks traded 1,473 have advanced while 905 have declined.
