Sensex off day's high; breadth fairly +ve

The Sensex is now up 142 points at 10,101. Earlier in the day, the index had opened with a positive gap of 152 points at 10,110. Thereafter, the index has moved in a narrow range of 99-odd points - a high of 10,168, and a low of 10,069.

Sterlite has zoomed over 7% to Rs 295. Jaiprakash Associates has soared over 6% to Rs 93.

Tata Power has surged 5.7% to Rs 814. Reliance Communications, Hindalco and ICICI Bank have rallied around 4% each to Rs 261, Rs 58 and Rs 489, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure has moved up 3.5% to Rs 653. Larsen & Toubro and SBI have advanced around 3% each to Rs 848 and Rs 1,369, respectively.

 

ONGC has added 2.7% to Rs 698. Reliance, Mahindra & Mahindra, Infosys and HDFC are up around 2.5% each at Rs 1,317, Rs 295, Rs 1,159 and Rs 1,582, respectively.

Satyam has slumped 7.7% to Rs 164. Bharti Airtel and Hindustan Unilever have tumbled almost 3% each to Rs 684 and Rs 241, respectively.

NTPC and DLF are down around 1% each at Rs 182 and Rs 298, respectively.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,402 stocks traded so far, 1,615 have advanced, 721 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
