The Sensex is off the day's high of 8,995, and is now up 134 points at 8,954.
Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has zoomed over 8% to Rs 319. Reliance Infrastructure and Tata Motors have surged over 5% each to Rs 515 and Rs 139, respectively.
Hindalco has gained 3.5% at Rs 40. Tata Steel and Infosys have moved up around 3% each to Rs 166 and Rs 1,219, respectively.
ICICI Bank and Wipro have moved up 2.7% each to Rs 345 and Rs 218, respectively.
ONGC and Bharti Airtel have gained 2.5% each at Rs 697 and Rs 654, respectively.
HDFC has shed 1.5% at Rs 1,270, and Ranbaxy has slipped 1% to Rs 212.
The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,389 stocks traded so far, 1,311 have advanced, 986 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
