The Sensex after touching a low of 8,467, has recovered partially and is now down 294 points at 8,546. Earlier in the day, the index had opened with a negative gap of 304 points, partial recovery had seen the index touch a high of 8,629 in morning trades.
Mahindra & Mahindra has tumbled 7.7% to Rs 251. Maruti has slumped 7% to Rs 452.
HDFC has shed 5.5% at Rs 1,361. Reliance Communications has dropped nearly 5% to Rs 187.
Reliance has dropped 4.5% to Rs 1,060. SBI, DLF, HDFC Bank and Jaiprakash Associates have slipped around 4% each to Rs 1,012, Rs 171, Rs 863 and Rs 54, respectively.
ONGC and Hindalco have 3.7% each to Rs 656 and Rs 50, respectively.
Out of 1,831 stocks traded so far, 1,323 have declined, 447 have advanced and 61 are unchanged.
