The Sensex has recovered partially from the day's low of 9,442, and is now down 125 points at 9,530. Earlier in the day, the index after a marginally (24 points) positive start at 9,679, touched a high of 9,746 in early trades, and then slipped into red.
Jaiprakash Associates has zoomed 9% to Rs 82. Sterlite has soared 5.5% to Rs 287.
Reliance Communications has rallied 2% to Rs 233. ACC has gained 1.5% at Rs 484.
Hindalco has slumped nearly 7% to Rs 50. TCS has tumbled 6.5% to Rs 507.
DLF and Satyam have plunged 5.7% each to Rs 248 and Rs 223, respectively.

BHEL has slipped 3.5% to Rs 1,364. Maruti has declined 2.7% to Rs 502.
Tata Steel and Tata Motors are down 2.3% each at Rs 213 and Rs 159, respectively.
The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,481 stocks traded so far, 1,391 have advanced, 996 have declined and 94 are unchanged.
