Sensex off day's low; IT index down 2%

The Sensex has recovered partially from its day's low at is now at 16,267, down 90 points. The NSE Nifty is at 4,862, down 19 points.

Among the Sensex-30 stocks, Infosys and Hindustan Unilever are down 3% each at Rs 2,399 and Rs 237, respectively.

HDFC Bank, Hindalco, Tata Power, SBI and Wipro are down over 1% each at Rs 1,602, Rs 145, Rs 1,289, Rs 1,290 and 640, respectively.

Sun Pharma, BHEL and Reliance Communication were up 1% each at Rs 1,484, Rs 2,429 and Rs 172, respectively.

The market breadth is positive, out of 2,253 shares traded, 1,569 have advanced and 642 have declined so far on the BSE.

Among the sectoral indices, IT index was the major dragger on the index, down 2% at 4,872 while consumer durables was up 3.5%, respectively.
