Sensex off-lows, down 36 pts

Selective buying and marginal recovery in select old and new economy stocks has seen the index come off its lows in the current trades. The Sensex is now down 36 points at 6,558.

HLL has lost 3.71% (Rs 6) to Rs 154. While ITC is down Rs 2 at Rs 1,326, Reliance is trading a rupee lower at Rs 536.

ONGC has slipped a per cent (Rs 5) to Rs 819. While Zee has shed 2.75% (Rs 4) to Rs 152, Wipro is down 1.11% (Rs 8) at Rs 683.

HDFC Bank is down 1.63% (Rs 10) at Rs 578, and SBI is weaker by a per cent (Rs 5) at Rs 648. ICICI Bank, however, is up a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 369.

ACC (up Rs 5 or 1.40% to Rs 379) is holding on to its gains, and Grasim is up a rupee at Rs 1,351. Gujarat Ambuja, however, is trading marginally lower at Rs 454.

Bharti has shed 2.24% (Rs 5) to Rs 205, while HDFC has declined 2.69% (Rs 22) to Rs 792. Tisco is down a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 397.

Tata Power has advanced 2.25% (Rs 9) to Rs 400, and BHEL is up 1.42% (Rs 11) at Rs 810.
