Sensex opens firm, Reliance surges

The Sensex opened on a firm note and notched up 49 points gains at 6,491 on strong buying support in select old and new ecnomy stocks. The Nifty has added 12 points to 2,057.

Reliance has opened strong with a surge of 2.36% (Rs 12) at Rs 5128. While HLL is up Rs 2 at Rs 145, ITC is down Rs 7 at Rs 1,296.

SBI is up a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 613. While ONGC has clocked a per cent gain (Rs 6) to Rs 849, Bharti is up 1.34% (Rs 3) at Rs 211.

Infosys has commenced with a small gain of Rs 4 at Rs 2,070. While Wipro is up a per cent (Rs 5) at Rs 753, Satyam is up a rupee at Rs 403.

Auto, cement and pharma, too, have registered steady gains in the opening bell.
