Sensex opens weak on global cues

The Sensex opened at 16,339 and then slipped to a low of 16,182 on weak global cues. The index is now at 16,233, down 129 points and the NSE Nifty is at 54,847, down 35 points.

All the Asian markets are in the negative zone. The Hang Seng has dropped 203 points or 1% to 19,919 and the Shanghai Composite has slipped 2% to 2,927.

Among the Sensex-30 stocks, Infosys has declined 3% to Rs 2,402 and Hindalco has slipped 2.5% to Rs 143, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever, HDFC Bank and Sterlite have dropped 2% each to Rs 238, Rs 1,596 and Rs 740, respectively.

Wipro, ICICI Bank, TCS and Reliance Infrastructure are down 1% each at Rs 637, Rs 818, Rs 725 and Rs 1,019, respectively.

Reliance Communications, ACC, Sun Pharma on the other hand have added 1% each.
