The Sensex opened on a weak note and slipped below the 6,400 mark on sustained selling pressure in most of the counters. However, buying in select stocks, notably, Reliance and Bharti, has seen the index pare some losses and is now down 34 points at 6,425. The Nifty also has commenced weak, and is down 15 points at 2,017. ITC, after resuming in the green, has lost a per cent (Rs 12) to Rs 1,282. Wipro has declined nearly 2% (Rs 12) to Rs 694. While Infosys is down Rs 8 at Rs 2,044, Satyam is down Rs 2 at Rs 388. SBI is down Rs 2 at Rs 616, and ICICI Bank has shed 2.69% (Rs 10) to Rs 351. Bajaj is down a per cent (Rs 9) at Rs 1,079, and Hero Honda is down Rs 2 at Rs 564. Tata Motors is down a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 499. Maruti, however, is up a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 450. Hindalco has slipped 1.24% (Rs 17) to Rs 1,350. While HLL is down a rupee at Rs 144, Reliance is up Rs 2 at Rs 532. Bharti has opened firm with a gain of 2.52% (Rs 5) at Rs 215, after falling sharply yesterday. BHEL has added 1.56% (Rs 12) to Rs 767. |
