The Sensex has pared its early gains and is now up 130 points at 8,290. Earlier in the day, the index opened 115 points higher at 8,275, and soon touched a high of 8,376.
ICICI Bank has surged nearly 4% to Rs 273. Sterlite has soared over 3% to Rs 252.
Infosys and ITC have rallied nearly 3% each to Rs 1,231 and Rs 163, respectively.
Tata Motors, Hindustan Unilever, TCS and Reliance have moved up around 2.5% each to Rs 140, Rs 222, Rs 474 and Rs 1,182, respectively.
Hindalco and Maruti have gained 2.3% each at Rs 39 and Rs 665, respectively.
Reliance Communications and Jaiprakash Associates have advanced 2% each to Rs 135 and Rs 67, respectively.
Tata Steel, Wipro and Larsen & Toubro are up 1.7% each at Rs 155, Rs 209 and Rs 571, respectively.
Bharti Airtel has plunged nearly 4% to Rs 566 on reports that one of its promoters sold his holdings in the open market recently.
Tata Power has shed 4% at Rs 610.
