Sensex pares gains, now up 17pts

The Sensex has pared gains after crossing 11,000 level. The index is now up 17 points at 10,958.

NTPC has surged over 2% to Rs 140.

Hero Honda, Cipla and Tata Power have gained 1.7% each at Rs 925, Rs 599 and Rs 578, respectively.

SBI has advanced 1.3% to Rs 983.

Hindalco (Rs 164), HLL (Rs 255), BHEL (Rs 2,128), ONGC (Rs 1,230) and Bharti (Rs 388) have spurted over 1% each.

HDFC has slipped nearly 1% to Rs 1,327.

Technology stocks like Infosys, TCS and Wipro are trading with marginal losses.

The market breadth is fairly positive. Out of 1,906 stocks traded so far, 1,106 have moved up, 737 have slipped and 63 are unchanged.
