Sensex pares gains, now up 55pts

Profit-taking in intra-day deals saw the Sensex pare gains and slip to the day's low of 10,783. The index has recovered some what and is now up 55 points at 10,820.

TCS is up 2.4%  at Rs 1,807. Satyam and Wipro are up 2% each at Rs 832 and Rs 529, respectively. Infosys is up nearly 1% at Rs 2,940.

NTPC has gained 1.8% at Rs 139. Reliance Energy has advanced nearly 1% to Rs 644.

Larsen & Toubro, ONGC and Hindalco are up over 1%.

Hero Honda and Gujarat Amujba have slipped over 1% each to Rs 893 and Rs 98.15, respectively.

HDFC, ICICI Bank, ITC, Tata Motors and Grasim are the other prominent gainers among the Sensex stocks.

The market breadth is marginally negative. Out of 2,558 stocks traded so far, 1,269 have declined, 1,215 have advanced and 74 are unchanged.
