A fresh round of profit taking has forced the index back below the 11,000-mark. The index after touching a new peak of 11,017, has now pared gains and is up 32 points at 10,973. The BSE Capital Goods Index has rallied 1.5% to 8157. The Metal and Oil & Gas indices are up 1% each at 7856 and 4764, respectively. BHEL is up 3.7% at Rs 2,186. Cipla has added 2.4% to Rs 603. Hero Honda is up nearly 2% at Rs 927. Grasim, Reliance, Bharti, Tata Steel, NTPC and ITC are the other prominent gainers among the Sensex stocks. Tata Motors has slipped almost 3% to Rs 913. HDFC has declined 2.2% to Rs 1,308. Bajaj Auto, Wipro, Satyam, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Maruti have declined over 1% each. The market breadth is fairly negative. Out of 2,577 stocks traded so far, 1,468 have declined, 1,044 have advanced and 65 are unmoved. |
