Sensex pares gains, up 117pts

The Sensex has pared gains and is now up 117 points at 16,041.

The NSE Nifty is up 41 points at 4,841.

DLF has zoomed 6.5% to Rs 725, and Larsen & Toubro has soared 6% to Rs 2,891. Bajaj Auto has rallied 5.3% to Rs 2,090.

NTPC and ONGC have surged nearly 3% each to Rs 190 and Rs 996, respectively.

ACC has gained 2.5% at Rs 786. Grasim and HDFC Bank have rallied over 2% each to Rs 2,800 and Rs 1,339, respectively.

Satyam has plunged 4.4% to Rs 390. HDFC has slumped 3% to Rs 2,494.

Bharti Airtel has dropped 2.7% to Rs 781, and Maruti has shed 2.5% at Rs 872.

Tata Motors and Cipla have slipped around 2% each to Rs 660 and Rs 197, respectively.

Reliance Energy has declined 1.5% to Rs 1,241. Wipro and TCS are down 1% each at Rs 398 and Rs 824, respectively.

Out of 2,584 stocks traded so far, 1,911 have advanced, 626 have declined and 47 are unchanged.
