Sensex pares gains, up 120pts

The Sensex has pared gains and is now up 120 points at 12,744. The index had touched a high of 12,835.

BHEL and NTPC have soared around 3.5% each at Rs 2,336 and Rs 159, respectively. HDFC has surged 2.7% to Rs 1,463.

Dr.Reddy's, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel and Hindalco have rallied around 2% each to Rs 735, Rs 821, Rs 748 and Rs 131, respectively.

ITC, Reliance and Cipla are up around 1.5% each at Rs 152, Rs 1,362 and Rs 228, respectively.

Gujarat Ambuja has shed 1.8% to Rs 103. Grasim and Hero Honda have slipped 1.7% each to Rs 2,068 and Rs 648, respectively.

Satyam, Tata Motors and ACC are down around 1% each to Rs 453, Rs 673 and Rs 698, respectively.

Out of 2,099 stocks traded so far, 1,414 have advanced, 623 have declined and 62 are unchanged.
