The Sensex has pared gains and is now up 130 points at 14,532. The index had touched a high of 14,673 earlier in the day.
HDFC has soared 3.7% to Rs 2,366. DLF and ICICI Bank have gained nearly 3% each at Rs 498 and Rs 662, respectively.
Tata Motors, Satyam and Reliance Communications have rallied over 2% each to Rs 435, Rs 395 and Rs 414, respectively.
HDFC Bank has moved up nearly 2% to Rs 1,217. SBI, Mahindra & Mahindra and Reliance Infrastructure have added 1.7% each to Rs 1,369, Rs 558 and Rs 995, respectively.
Tata Power has shed 2.6% at Rs 1,023. Ranbaxy has dropped 2% to Rs 512.
Jaiprakash Associates has slipped 1.5% to Rs 162. Maruti and Hindustan Unilever are down over 1% ech to Rs 624 and Rs 242, respectively.
The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,631 stocks traded so far, 1,560 have advanced, 986 have declind and the rest are unchanged.
