Sensex pares gains, up 150pts; tech stocks firm

The Sensex has pared gains and is now up 150 points at 10,126. The index had touched a high of 10,538 earlier in the day.

Wipro has zoomed nearly 8% to Rs 278. TCS and Infosys have soared 6.7% each to Rs 485 and Rs 1,282, respectively. Satyam has surged 5.7% to Rs 281.

ICICI Bank has rallied over 5% to Rs 412, and HDFC Bank has gained 4.4% at Rs 1,069.

ITC, Bharti Airtel and Hindalco have advanced around 3.5% each to Rs 164, Rs 701 and Rs 66, respectively.

HDFC and Tata Steel have moved up 3% each to Rs 1,831 and Rs 256, respectively. Sterlite has added 2.5% to Rs 279.

 

Grasim has plunged 7.6% to Rs 1,195. Tata Power and ACC have tumbled 4% each to Rs 719 and Rs 470, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra and BHEL have shed nearly 3.5% each to Rs 426 and Rs 1,155, respectively.

DLF and Tata Motors are down over 1% each at Rs 288 and Rs 241, respectively.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,548 stocks traded so far, 1,588 have declined, 882 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
