Sensex pares gains, up 15pts; Maruti slumps 7%

The Sensex has pared gains and is now up 15 points at 19,993.

Reliance Energy has soared 4% to Rs 1,790. BHEL has surged over 3% to Rs 2,694.

Larsen & Toubro has rallied 2.5% to Rs 4,382. Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank and NTPC have advanced around 2% each to Rs 1,015, Rs 1,275 and Rs 238, respectively.

HDFC Bank and Hindalco are up over 1% each at Rs 1,660 and Rs 196, respectively.

Maruti has plunged 7% to Rs 1,106, and Mahindra & Mahindra has tumbled 6% to Rs 749. Tata Motors has shed 2.5% to Rs 787.

Cipla and TCS are down nearly 1.5% each to Rs 182 and Rs 1,054, respectively.

Out of 2,767 stocks traded so far, 1,452 have declined, 1,258 have advanced and 57 are unchanged.
