Sensex pares gains, up 201pts

The Sensex has pared gains and is now up 201 points at 14,450.

Ambuja Cements has soared over 4% to Rs 136. ACC has zoomed 3.7% to Rs 989, and Grasim has surged 3.5% to Rs 2,821.

HDFC and Reliance Energy have rallied around 3.5% each to Rs 1,969 and Rs 750, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro has gained nearly 3% at Rs 2,452. Hindalco and BHEL have moved up 2.7% each to Rs 143 and Rs 1,712, respectively.

Satyam, Ranbaxy, Tata Motors, ITC, Reliance Communications and SBI have advanced over 2% each to Rs 427, Rs 362, Rs 633, Rs 162, Rs 506 and Rs 1,487, respectively.

Tata Steel, NTPC, Bharti Airtel and Infosys are up nearly 2% each.

HDFC Bank is the sole loser among the index stocks.

Out of 2,451 stocks traded so far, 1,783 have advanced, 619 have declined and 49 are unchanged.
