Sensex pares gains, up 201pts; HDFC Bk up 3%

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 292 points at 20,130 following a 25 bps rate cut by the Federal Reserve. The index touched a high of 20,204, and then pared gains and is now up 201 points at 20,039.

The Nifty touched a fresh all-time intra-day high of 6012, and is now up 74 points at 5975.

HDFC Bank has rallied over 3% to Rs 1,706.

ONGC, Hindalco and Larsen & Toubro have gained 2.5% each at Rs 1,279, Rs 201 and Rs 4,347, respectively.

SBI has advanced 1.8% to Rs 2,106. Reliance Energy has gained 1.5% at Rs 1,895.

Tata Steel, NTPC and Maruti have moved up 1.3% each to Rs 917, Rs 243 and Rs 1,087, respectively.

Bharti Airtel has slipped 1.7% to Rs 990.
