Sensex pares gains, up 204pts; ICICI slips 2%

The Sensex has pared gains and is now up 204 points at 18,357. The index touched a high of 18,491.

The NSE Nifty is up 77 points at 5,351.

Grasim and HDFC have soared 4% each to Rs 3,065 and Rs 2,891, respectively.

Wipro and ITC have rallied 3.5% each to Rs 420 and Rs 203, respectively.

ONGC, Infosys and TCS have surged around 3% each to Rs 1,033, Rs 1,491 and Rs 879, respectively.

DLF, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Steel and Hindustan Unilever have advanced around 2% each to Rs 913, Rs 700, Rs 713 and Rs 203, respectively.

NTPC and Cipla have gained 1.7% each at Rs 217 and Rs 188, respectively.

Reliance, Ranbaxy and Tata Motors are up around 1.5% each at Rs 2,603, Rs 356 and Rs 725, respectively.

ICICI Bank has slipped over 2% to Rs 1,246. Bajaj Auto has shed 1.7% at Rs 2,418, and Maruti is down over 1% at Rs 853.
