Sensex pares gains, up 23pts; Maruti gains 2%

The Sensex has pared gains and is now up 23 points at 15,722.

Maruti and Satyam have surged 2% each to Rs 826 and Rs 497, respectively.

Bajaj Auto and Infosys have rallied 1.5% each to Rs 2,393 and Rs 2,020, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, Ranbaxy, HDFC, Reliance and Cipla are up around 1% each at Rs 791, Rs 734, Rs 344, Rs 1,980, Rs 1,921 and Rs 188, respectively.

HDFC Bank has slipped over 2% to Rs 1,215. ACC has shed 1.5% to Rs 1,055.

Bharti Airtel and ITC are down 1% each at Rs 936 and Rs 164, respectively.
