Sensex pares gains, up 42pts; SBI slips 3%

The Sensex has pared gains and is now up 42 points at 17,333.

Reliance Energy has zoomed 11.4% to Rs 1,343. NTPC has soared 5.7% to Rs 204.

Reliance Communications has surged 4.8% to Rs 614. ONGC has gained 4% at Rs 997, and Cipla has added 3% to Rs 188.

Ambuja Cements and Grasim have moved up around 2.5% each to Rs 148 and Rs 3,598, respectively.

SBI has plunged 3% to Rs 1,892. BHEL, ITC, HDFC Bank and Bajaj Auto have dropped 2% each to Rs 1,989, Rs 186, Rs 1,410 and Rs 2,490, respectively.

TCS has shed 1.8% to Rs 1,038. Wipro and Tata Steel are down over 1% each at Rs 454 and Rs 840, respectively.

Out of 2,832 stocks traded so far, 1,622 have advanced, 1,145 have declined and 65 are unchanged.
