Sensex pares gains, up 448pts; breadth +ve

The Sensex has pared some gains and is now up 448 points at 15,282.

The NSE Nifty is up 120 points at 4,653.

Jaiprakash (JP) Associates has soared over 8% to Rs 217. HDFC Bank has zoomed over 6% to Rs 1,307.

ICICI Bank has rallied 4.8% to Rs 805, and HDFC has gained 4.5% at Rs 2,301.

SBI has moved up nearly 4% to Rs 1,654. Larsen & Toubro, Bharti Airtel and Tata Motros have gained around 3.5% each at Rs 2,861, Rs 784 and Rs 640, respectively.

Satyam and Wipro have advanced 3.3% each to Rs 383 and Rs 372, respectively. Mahindra & Mahindra is up over 1% at Rs 656.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 1,951 stocks traded so far, 1,370 have advanced, 542 have declined and 39 are unchanged.
