Sensex pares gains, up 50pts in early deals

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 129 points at 17,902. The index touched a fresh all-time intra-day high of 17,983, and then pared gains to touch a low of 17,813.

The index is now up 50 points at 17,823.

HDFC Bank has rallied nearly 2% to Rs 1,427.

BHEL has gained 1.4% at Rs 2,183. HDFC and Grasim are up over 1% each at Rs 2,485 and Rs 3,580, respectively.

ITC has slipped 1.5% to Rs 176. NTPC and Cipla have shed 1.3% each to Rs 212 and Rs 187, respectively.

Dr.Reddy's and Hindalco are down around 1% each at Rs 646 and Rs 168, respectively.
