Profit-taking in select old and new economy stocks, and weak trends in banking counters has seen the index erase some gains in late noon trades. The Sensex is now up 52 points at 6,215, while the Nifty is still hovering at 1,956 levels - up 24 points. Reliance is trading with a per cent gain (Rs 7) at Rs 508. While ITC has recovered from its weak trends and is up Rs 6 at Rs 1,365, HLL, too, is trading with a rupee gain at Rs 151. Infosys is up 1.91% (Rs 36) to Rs 1,948. While Wipro, too, has attracted further buying support by 2.89% (Rs 19) to Rs 676, Satyam is trading on a flat note at Rs 385. ONGC has trimmed its gains to Rs 786 - up Rs 4, and Zee ahs gained 2.66% (Rs 4) to Rs 151. HDFC Bank has gained 2.15% (Rs 11) to Rs 530. While ICICI Bank has eased to Rs 338 - down Rs 5 or 1.53%, SBI is down a rupee at Rs 581. Maruti, on renewed buying support, has surged 3.50% (Rs 15) to Rs 436. Hero Honda at Rs 532 (up Rs 9 or 1.72%) and Tata Motors at Rs 483 (up Rs 4) are still trading at steady levels. Ranbaxy is holding on to its gains at Rs 1,012 - up Rs 28 or 2.86%. While Dr. Reddy's has extended its gains by 1.59% (Rs 12) to Rs 741, Cipla is down a per cent (Rs 2) at Rs 271. ACC has inched up by 1.39% (Rs 5) to Rs 349. Other cement stocks continues to trade with steady gains. Hindalco is trading off-highs with a gain of 2.15% (Rs 27) at Rs 1,278. While Bharti is trading firm with a gain of 2.48% (Rs 5) at Rs 208, Reliance Energy has added 1.85% (Rs 9) to Rs 500. Tata Power has logged 2.38% gains (Rs 8) to Rs 353, and Tisco is up 1.36% (Rs 5) at Rs 373. BHEL has moved up 2.39% (Rs 17) to Rs 710, after remaining steady in early noon trades. |
