Sensex pares gains, up 53pts; ACC surges 3%

The Sensex has pared gains and is now up 53 points at 12,956.

ACC has surged 3% to Rs 770. Gujarat Ambuja has advanced over 2% to Rs 108, and Grasim has added 1.5% to Rs 2,045.

Tata Steel, HDFC and TCS have moved up 1.3% each to Rs 442, Rs 1,605 and Rs 1,254, respectively.

Bajaj Auto, Maruti, Satyam and Hindalco are up over 1% each at Rs 2,538, Rs 806, Rs 447 and Rs 130, respectively.

HLL has slipped nearly 2% to Rs 182. Ranbaxy is down 1% at Rs 320.

The market breadth is positive - out of 2,280 stocks traded so far, 1,584 have advanced, 638 have declined and 58 are unchanged.
