Sensex pares gains, up 56pts

The Sensex has pared some gains and is now up 56 points at 15,599. The index had touched a high of 15,661 in opening trades.

Ambuja Cements, Wipro and Tata Steel have gained 1% each at Rs 144, Rs 460 and Rs 715, respectively.

HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Reliance are the other prominent gainers.
