Sensex pares gains, up 88pts

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 211 points at 18,737, and touched a high of 18,858. The index has pared gains and is now up 88 points at 18,615.

Larsen & Toubro and DLF have soared over 3% each to Rs 4,060 and Rs 849, respectively.

BHEL, NTPC and HDFC have surged around 2% each to Rs 2,540, Rs 233 and Rs 2,611, respectively.

Bajaj Auto has moved up 1.7% to Rs 2,515. Bharti Airtel and Reliance have gained 1.3% each at Rs 919 and Rs 1,626, respectively.

Tata Motors, Maruti and ACC are up around 1% each at Rs 700, Rs 978 and Rs 1,114, respectively.

HDFC Bank has slipped 1% to Rs 1,579.
