Sensex plunges 101pts

The Sensex plunged to a low of 9819, and is now down 101 points at the same levels.

Larsen & Toubro is up 6.2% at Rs 2,300. Dr.Reddy's has gained 5% at Rs 1,175.

Grasim and HDFC have advanced nearly 3% each to Rs 1,493 and Rs 1,375, respectively.

NTPC, Hero Honda and ACC are the only other notable gainers among the Sensex stocks.

Ranbaxy had slipped over 4% to  Rs 383.

Reliance Energy has dropped 3.5% to Rs 614, and HDFC Bank has declined 3.2% to Rs 738. ICICI Bank is down 3% at Rs 591.

Gujarat Ambuja has shed 3.2% to Rs 85.65.

Tata Power, Maruti, SBI, Satyam, Hindalco, Wipro, Bharti, HLL and Tata Steel are also down considerably.

The market breadth is extremely negative. Out of 2,525 stocks traded so far, 1,935 have slipped, 546 have moved up and the rest are unchanged.
