Sensex plunges 194 pts, Hero Honda recovers

The market continues to remain under the grip of a bear phase. Although auto major Hero Honda has bounced back into the green, other counters are still trading at lower levels.

The Sensex, after touching a low of 6,251, is now down 194 points at 6,274. The Nifty is down 61 points at 1,964.

Infosys (down Rs 138 or 6.55% to Rs 1,964), Wipro (down Rs 34 or 5.20% to Rs 612) and Satyam (down Rs 20 or 4.99% to Rs 387) are trading with significant losses.

Reliance is trading weaker by 2.41% (Rs 13) at Rs 532. ONGC has dropped 3.32% (Rs 29) to Rs 848, while ITC has declined 1.88% (Rs 27) to Rs 1,389.

SBI has shed 2.73% (Rs 18) to Rs 628. HDFC Bank has scaled down 3.42% (Rs 19) to Rs 543, and ICICI Bank has lost 2.71% (Rs 11) to Rs 401.

Cipla has slumped 4.57% (Rs 11) to Rs 238, and Dr. Reddy's is down 3.62% (Rs 27) at Rs 710. Ranbaxy has lost 2.72% (Rs 27) to Rs 959.

Grasim is trading lower by 1.51% (Rs 17) at Rs 1,189. Gujarat Ambuja and ACC are down a per cent each at Rs 422 and Rs 363, respectively.

Hero Honda, however, bucked the downtrend with a gain of nearly 2% (Rs 10) at Rs 524. Other auto majors are trading with losses.

Hindalco has crashed 5.21% (Rs 69) to Rs 1,260. HDFC at Rs 712 (down Rs 11 or 1.51%), L&T at Rs 949 (down Rs 16 or 1.70%), Tisco at Rs 369 (down Rs 12 or 3.14%) and Tata Power at Rs 341 (down Rs 9 or 2.56%) continue to trading with steep losses.
