The Sensex has slumped further deep into the red, and is now down 254 points at 11,031. Earlier in the day, the index opened at 11,358, and touched a high of 11,367.
Tata Motors has crashed 10% to Rs 252. Tata Steel has slumped over 6% to Rs 274.
Ranbaxy has shed over 6% at Rs 188. Jaiprakash Associates and Reliance Infrastructure have tumbled 5% each to Rs 116 and Rs 674, respectively.
DLF, Larsen & Toubro and Mahindra & Mahindra have dropped 4% each to Rs 245, Rs 841 and Rs 455, respectively.
ONGC and Hindalco are down more than 3% each.

On the other hand, Wipro and ITC have rallied over 3% each to Rs 277 and Rs 191, respectively.
Sun Pharma has moved up 2% to Rs 1,237. Maruti Suzuki has gained 1.5% to Rs 862.
Hindustan Unilever, ACC and Grasim have also advanced.
The market breadth is now fairly negative. Out of 2,620 stocks traded so far, 1,627 have declined, and 932 have advanced.
