Sensex plunges 292pts; Cipla slumps 6%

The Sensex has plunged to the day's low of 11,623 - down 292 points.

Cipla has slumped 6% to Rs 245. Tata Steel has dropped 4.5% to Rs 624, and Tata Motors is down over 4% to Rs 918.

NTPC and Reliance Energy have dropped 4% each to Rs 129 and Rs 610, respectively.

Tata Power, ACC, Maruti, Ranbaxy and Hindalco are the other major losers.

Out of 2,561 stocks traded so far, 1,414 have declined, 1,071 have advanced and 76 are unchanged.
