Sensex plunges 425pts; mkt breadth extremely -ve

The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 107 points at 10,680. The index plunged to a low of 10,337 - down 450 points from the previous close.

The index is now down 425 points at 10,362.

Hindalco has slumped over 6% to Rs 174. ITC has shed 5.6% to Rs 167. Wipro and Maruti have tumbled 5.5% each to Rs 445 and Rs 724, respectively.

Hero Honda, HLL and ACC are down over 5% each to Rs 761, Rs 229 and Rs 739, respectively.

The market breadth is extremely negative - out of 1,632 stocks traded so far, 1,424 have declined, 187 have advanced and 21 are unchanged.
