Sensex plunges into red, down 195pts

The Sensex has slipped into the red to a low of 14,082, down 324 points from the day's high. It is now down 195 points at 14,107.

Tata Motors has zoomed 13% to Rs 345. Tata Steel has soared 11.5% to Rs 367.

Hindalco has rallied 7.5% to Rs 83. Mahindra & Mahindra has gained 6% at Rs 667. Jaiprakash Associates has surged 5.5% to Rs 174.

Ranbaxy, Reliance Infrastructure, Maruti Suzuki, Larsen & Toubro, ACC, ONGC, SBI and NTPC have advanced 2-5% each.

On the other hand, Sun Pharma has plunged 5.5% to Rs 1,300. DLF has shed 5% at Rs 364.

 

BHEL and ICICI Bank have slipped 4.5% each to Rs 2,068 and Rs 725, respectively. Bharti AIrtel, Reliance Communications, HDFC Bank, Grasim and Reliance have also dropped.

The market breadth continues to be extremely positive -out of 2,533 stocks traded, 2,104 have advanced while only 67 have declined.
