Mirroring positive global cues, the Sensex opened with a positive gap of 73 points at 9,040. The index is now up 173 points at 9,139.
Sterlite has soared nearly 5% to Rs 331. Tata Motors has rallied 4.5% to Rs 168.
Reliance Infrastrucutre has surged nearly 4% to Rs 502. Mahindra & Mahindra has gained 3.5% at Rs 368.
Jaiprakash Associates and Tata Steel have advanced over 3% each to Rs 82 and Rs 181, respectively.
Reliance Communications, BHEL and ONGC have moved up nearly 3% each to Rs 163, Rs 1,417 and Rs 775, respectively.
Tata Power, ITC and TCS have added nearly 2.5% each to Rs 683, Rs 174 and Rs 522, respectively.
DLF, however, has slipped over 1% to Rs 169.
