Sensex rallies 222pts in early trades on global cues

Mirroring positive cues from the global markets, the Sensex opened with a positive gap of 137 points at 8,481. The index is now up 222 points at 8,566.

Realty and banking stocks are leading the upmove. The BSE Realty index has surged 6% to 1,388, and the Bankex has gained 3.7% at 3,895.

DLF has zoomed over 9% to Rs 149. ICICI Bank has soared 6% to Rs 302.

Tata Motors and HDFC have surged over 5% each to Rs 154 and Rs 1,348, respectively.

Reliance Communications has rallied 4.7% to Rs 145. Mahindra & Mahindra has moved up nearly 4% to Rs 342.

 

Sterlite, Tata Power and Reliance Infrastructure have moved up 3.7% each at Rs 272, Rs 630 and Rs 458, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates, Infosys and Reliance have gained 3.5% each at Rs 69, Rs 1,270 and Rs 1,243, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro has advanced over 3% to Rs 594. SBI, Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, ONGC, TCS, Wipro and BHEL are the other major gainers.

NTPC, however, has slipped 1% to Rs 172.
