The Sensex today opened flat at 12,160 - up 25 points. On account of profit taking, the index slipped into the negative and touched a low of 12,027. However, the markets have recovered and the index has rebounded into the positive zone in late morning trades.
The index touched a high of 12,184, and is now up 20 points at 12,155.
DLF has surged over 6% to Rs 248. Tata Steel and ICICI Bank have added 5% each to Rs 277 and Rs 554, respectively.
Ranbaxy, Reliance Infrastructure and Tata Motors have soared over 4% each to Rs 177, Rs 781 and Rs 268, respectively.
Reliance Communications, Jaiprakash Associates and Larsen & Toubro are over 3.5% each at Rs 237, Rs 152 and Rs 990, respectively.
On the other hand, HDFC is the major loser so far, down 3% at Rs 1,897. Mahindra & Mahindra has slumped over 2.5% to Rs 535.
ITC and Infosys have slipped over 2% each to Rs 201 and Rs 1,594, respectively.
The market breadth is positive, out of 2,062 shares traded, over 65% (1,348) shares have advanced and 639 have declined.
