Sensex rebounds, now up 44pts

The Sensex touched a low of 10,782 - down 210 points from the day's high of 10,992.

The index has now rebounded into the positive zone and is now up 44 points at 10,854.

Satyam has surged 3.6% to Rs 704. HDFC has rallied 3% to Rs 1,207.

Larsen & Toubro has rallied 2.5% to Rs 2,420, and Tata Power has added 2% to Rs 507.

Hindalco, Hero Honda and Tata Motors are the other significant gainers among the Sensex stocks.

ITC has dropped 2.6% to Rs 179. NTPC and Bharti Airtel have slipped 2% each to Rs 115 and Rs 380, respectively.

Bajaj Auto (Rs 2,874), Gujarat Ambuja (Rs 97), Dr.Reddy's (Rs 1,400), Grasim (Rs 1,931) and HDFC Bank (Rs 765) are the other prominent losers.

Out of 2,450 stocks traded so far, 1,273 have advanced, 1,116 have declined and 61 are unchanged.
