Sensex rebounds, up 114pts; breadth fairly -ve

The Sensex has rebounded into the positive zone and is now up 114 points at 11,916.

Ranbaxy has soared 4.5% to Rs 258. NTPC and ONGC have surged 4% each to Rs 175 and Rs 1,018, respectively.

DLF has rallied 3.3% to Rs 312, and Bharti Airtel has advanced nearly 3% to Rs 751.

Reliance Infrastructure, Reliance and Wipro have gained around 2.5% each at Rs 655, Rs 1,683 and Rs 327, respectively.

ITC has slumped 4.5% to Rs 172. Mahindra & Mahindra and Larsen & Toubro have plunged around 3.5% each to Rs 485 and Rs 1,047, respectively.

Sterlite has tumbled nearly 3% to Rs 326. HDFC Bank has shed 2.4% at Rs 1,174, and Satyam has slipped 2% to Rs 288.

 

The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,413 stocks traded so far, 1,570 have declined, 773 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
