Sensex rebounds, up 24pts; NTPC surges 5%

The Sensex has rebounded into the positive zone and is now up 24 points at 17,315.

Reliance Energy has zoomed over 12% to Rs 1,352. NTPC has soared 4.6% to Rs 202.

ONGC and Mahindra & Mahindra have surged around 3% each to Rs 989 and Rs 774, respectively.

Ambuja Cements has gained 2.5% at Rs 147. Cipla, Reliance Communications and Dr.Reddy's have rallied 2% each to Rs 186, Rs 597 and Rs 662, respectively.

ACC has moved up 1.5% to Rs 1,213.

TCS and Wipro have plunged 2.5% each to Rs 1,030 and Rs 449, respectively.

SBI has slipped over 2% to Rs 1,910. BHEL, ITC and HDFC Bank have dropped 1.7% each to Rs 1,998, Rs 187 and Rs 1,416, respectively.

Maruti and Satyam have slipped 1.4% each to Rs 986 and Rs 438, respectively.

Bajaj Auto and HDFC are down over 1% each to Rs 2,511 and Rs 2,500, respectively.

Out of 2,714 stocks traded so far, 1,613 have advanced, 1,046 have declined and 55 are unchanged.
