Sensex rebounds, up 27 pts

The market has rebounded from its early lows on recovery in banking and other select heavyweights. The Sensex, after touching a high of 7,535, is now up 27 points at 7,532. The Nifty, after exhibiting a flat trend in early trades, is up three points at 2,295.

The market breadth is negative, with 782 advances against 1,470 declines on the BSE.

ICICI Bank has gained 1.12% (Rs 5) to Rs 495, after slipping in the red in early trades. While HDFC Bank is up a per cent (Rs 6) at Rs 681, SBI is trading lower at Rs 740 - down Rs 3.

Bharti has jumped 1.91% (Rs 5) to Rs 272, while BHEL has added 1.72% (Rs 17) to Rs 1,013.

ITC has advanced 1.40% (Rs 23) to Rs 1,689. Reliance is down a rupee at Rs 686.

Satyam is up a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 525. Other tech pivotals are exhibiting a mixed trend.

ACC has inched lower by 1.63% (Rs 7) to Rs 443. Grasim and Gujarat Ambuja, however, are up with steady gains at Rs 1,175 and Rs 65, respectively.

Select mid-cap stocks have perked up. Sintex has surged 5.95% (Rs 34) to Rs 600, while Essar Shipping has added 5.12% to Rs 38. Rico Auto, Polaris Lab, Hexaware, Bata, Alstom Project, NDTV, Exide and Pantaloon Retail are up in a range of 2-5%.
