Sensex rebounds, up 7pts; Hindalco soars 4%

The Sensex has rebounded into the positive zone is now up seven points at 17,773.

The NSE Nifty is up 10 points at 5,212.

Hindalco has surged 4% to Rs 170. Bajaj Auto, Ranbaxy and Tata Steel have rallied over 2% each to Rs 2,122, Rs 388 and Rs 794, respectively.

BHEL has moved up 1.7% to Rs 2,270. Reliance and Hindustan Unilever have advanced 1.3% each to Rs 2,549 and Rs 206, respectively.

Cipla, SBI, HDFC Bank and ONGC are up 1% each at Rs 182, Rs 2,229, Rs 1,555 and Rs 1,036, respectively.

Satyam and Maruti have slipped over 2% each to Rs 429 and Rs 813, respectively.

DLF has shed 1.7% at Rs 850, and Bharti Airtel has dropped 1.5% to Rs 865.

Grasim and Larsen & Toubro are down 1.3% each at Rs 2,808 and Rs 3,464, respectively.

The market breadth is marginally positive - out of 2,596 stocks traded so far, 1,362 have advanced, 1,166 have declined and 68 are unchanged.
