Sensex rebounds, up 93pts; HDFC surges 5%

The Sensex has rebounded into the positive zone and is now up 93 points at 9,802. Earlier in the day, the index opened 37 points higher at 9,746, but soon slipped into red to a low of 9,546.

Ranbaxy has soared 6.5% to Rs 176. HDFC has surged 5.3% to Rs 1,486.

DLF has rallied 4% to Rs 174. Tata Power has moved up over 3% to Rs 789.

Reliance Communications and Reliance Infrastructure have advanced around 2.5% each to Rs 179 and Rs 528, respectively.

Tata Steel and Mahindra & Mahindra have gained around 2% each at Rs 210 and Rs 391, respectively.

 

ICICI Bank, Jaiprakash Associates, Infosys, HDFC Bank and TCS are up around 1.5% each.

Sun Pharma have slumped over 4% to Rs 1,064. Hindustan Unilever and Bharti Airtel have tumbled around 2.5% each to Rs 232 and Rs 610, respectively.

NTPC and ITC are down around 1.5% each at Rs 178 and Rs 182, respectively.

The market breadth is extremely positive - out of 2,016 stocks traded so far, 1,459 have advanced, 493 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
