Sensex rebounds, up 97pts; breadth +ve

The Sensex has rebounded into the positive zone and is now up 97 points at 17,657.

Reliance Energy has soared 5.4% to Rs 1,405, and Ambuja Cements has surged over 4% to Rs 145.

ACC and ICICI Bank have rallied 3% each to Rs 1,022 and Rs 1,054, respectively.

ONGC and Hindalco have gained 2% each at Rs 1,131 and Rs 178, respectively.

SBI and Larsen & Toubro have advanced 1.5% each to Rs 1,692 and Rs 3,065, respectively.

Bharti Airtel has plunged nearly 3% to Rs 941, and Satyam has shed 2.6% to Rs 448.

HDFC, TCS and Infosys have slipped around 2% each to Rs 2,343, Rs 1,084 and Rs 1,873, respectively.

Wipro and Tata Steel have dropped 1.5% each to Rs 492 and Rs 840, respectively. Mahindra & Mahindra is down 1% at Rs 721.

The market breadth is positive - out of 2,369 stocks traded so far, 1,282 have advanced, 1,023 have declined and 64 are unchanged.
